So, who can play at the CYCC?

Yes, anyone and everyone, as long as they are Canadian or a permanent resident!

For many years the CFC had a detailed set of rules about who could play, which were completely ignored. Starting in 2011, new rules will be enforced, so 2010 is the very last year that the CYCC is open to everyone.

This is not to say everyone should play in a national tournament.

For one thing, this IS the national championship. You may be a big fish in the local small pond, but the national championship is the biggest pond we have.

For another thing, the entry fee is $200 (with a $25 discount for early birds). Why so expensive? $125 of each entry fee goes to pay for the winners to travel to the World Youth Championships.

Under 8 Boys Under 8 Girls Born 2002 and later
Under 10 Boys Under 10 Girls Born 2000, 2001
Under 12 Boys Under 12 Girls Born 1998, 1999
Under 14 Boys Under 14 Girls Born 1996, 1997
Under 16 Boys Under 16 Girls Born 1994, 1995
Under 18 Boys Under 18 Girls Born 1992, 1993

Note: Top girls are permitted to play in the boys section, so technically we should call the sections "open" and "girls only".
